Here is the brief description of books which worked for most students in passing MRCP Part 1 exam:
1. Basic Medical Science for MRCP part 1 by Easterbrook:
Basic medical science portion is a huge one so just try to touch all the topics and don't forget to cover other areas. Just go through the book, the most important chapters are Genetics, Immunology, Pharmacology, Statistics. If you have read Physio ,Anatomy, Microbiology from other book before for another exam like FCPS part 1 or usmle that will be enough. The Pharmacology tables are really good and helpful as the final revision materials just before exam.
2. Essential Revision Note for MRCP by Kalra:
Its a rapid review book. It has most high yield topics discussed. If you have covered Davidson Medicine/Kumar and Clark’s Clinical Medicine before this is the book that will prepare you fast.
3. Passmedicine for MRCP part 1:
Best book to start with. It has mcqs and you can get it from any book shop. Explanations and short notes that are given after each question are really helpful.
4. Reference medicine text book:
Oxford handbook of clinical medicine is very good as its concise and easy to cover. Kumar and Clark and Davidson’s Principle and Practice of medicine are also good books, just pick one according to your taste and thats enough.
5. Second question set for practice– choose between Onexam or Pastest:
After completing all, practice more mcqs from onexam or pastest. Pastest is a huge collection, covers almost all aspects and also time consuming. If you cover only Pastest , you will not need passmedicine sometimes. But It is strongly recommended to give Passmedicine at least a single read.
